Ok, so I prollly shouldn't have jumped the gun and bought a domain with GoDaddy. Like, I could switch registrars but that sounds like a pain.
A surprisingly helpful Grok helped me get it up and running. Like, damn. I would have just been too anxious to ask anyone (like always) and the project would have languished. Fuck LLMs and their effects but, I guess, one of the upsides is that I can have very specific problem fixed. Could I have read some docs about DNS stuff? Prolly. But was I gonna (while in the middle of ordering cheap out of state weed)? No, not at all.
I wasn't able to set a root CNAME or A record with an @. Oh, and I forgot that @ means root. It let me throw in the CNAME for WWW, though. Why? Idk, GoDaddy's like a Dom Daddy, it doesn't want to give you control.

Because the WWW thingy was set, Grok had me forward the domain to www.pixel-fae.com with GoDaddy's forwarding service. It tries to give you a bunch of sites like Medium or Tumblr to select from, so you gotta choose "forward to any site", and then it'll let you put in www.pixel-fae.com. Why are we forwarding our domain to the www. version of our site? It's so, even though the root (the @) record wasn't set, it can still forward requests from pixel-fae.com over to www.pixel-fae.com. There's gotta be at least one person in the world obtuse enough to force people who go to their website to use the full www address to access their site.
The next time I decide register a domain from a music video, it won't be with GoDaddy. Check out the fancy new home screen btw. :O
