Karaoke songs I'd like to sing more of
Yo, check it. Ya'mean? I've been playing Joysound karaoke more than usual lately. Like, I actually bought the 1540 yen 30 day pass. Good on Joysound for not raising the price after all these years. 1540 yen really isn't what it used to be.
Most of my Karaoke picks a just random Oricon songs. Oricon is basically Japan's Billboard top whatever. Years ago, I downloaded a bunch of Oricon torrents, covering each year's Oricon top 100 songs - from 1970 to the early 2010s. It's a lot. Some years I'll listen to each song. Others, I'll just skip around. Really depends on how much Enka I'm up for listening. Though, other times I'll just sit back and try to enjoy Enka. Sometimes you have to try very hard to like Enka. You will eventually like Enka. Depends on if you're in the mood. Ngl, as the kids say, Sake really helps you enjoy Enka. Idk why I'm capitalizing Enka. It's just a genre.
Here's muh songs
Warm up songs
- Zankoku na Tenshi no Teeze
- Steady by Speed
I was memed into the Eva OP, and now it's like a staple. Steady, I found through my Oricon set. 1997 was a great year.
My absolute favorite part.
Believe My Soul かけがえのないあなたの
かけがえのない人になって行きたい
And then I'm ready to grind out other songs. It's a grind. After years of Karaoke-ing, I probably only have like 50 songs I can sing well. Then, maybe 100 or so I can kind of sort of do. Sticking with the same songs will do that to you. That's why I have to begrudgingly try to git gud at other songs. Future me will appreciate the effort.
Some other staples.
- God Knows (animu song)
- Glamorous Sky by Nakashima Mika
- Ai o Torimodose!!
- Hitotoshite Jiku Ga Bureteiru
- Daimeiwaku by Unicorn
- Diamonds by Princess Princess
- Whiskey and Unubore by Zazen Boys
- Seichou Osomatsu-setsu
- Kujibiki Unbalance
- Love Love Show by The Yellow Monkey
- Highschool Lullaby By Imoken Trio
Check out the song below. This train mania inspired hit charted at 96 in the year 2000. Behold, the Densha Otoko band: SUPER BELL"Z (which I read as super ballz).
Go through entire Oricon years. They'll expand your horizons more than fucking """""CITY POP"""""" playlists on PlebTube (every westerner seems to refer to all older japanese music as Citiy Pop). Maybe then you'll be able to name Japanese artists that Japanese people actually know.
If you're someone who refers to YMO as "City Pop", go fuck yourself.
