Throw Your Zines At People, Rally in the Streets
Idk I'm just gonna start throwing zines at people hanging out at bars. Like, not at “at“ them, probably just near them. "Throwing at" has a way better ring to it. I could go on about how this is whole educating boring people and mentally masturbate over it like some substack garbage but, at the end of the day, I just find the idea of boring drunk people. I found it. Ideas are meant to be found.

Also, never take your wife to a screening of "Throw Away Your Books, Rally in the Streets" (1971) without warning her about the plot. Absolutely do not watch this movie if you are depressed. It is extreme. Idk, all of your Japanese idols like this shit. Tatami Galaxy threw in a quick mention. All of your favorite folk and pop Japanese artists from the 70s and 80s watched this film. The Terayama Shuuji rabbit hole is sorta like the Nagai Gou rabbit hole or the YMO rabbit hole. You'll be there for a minute. Boxing and poor people stories were super popular in the early 70s. But so were stories about SA other very, very uncomfortable topics. Social change is supposed to be uncomfortable.
Oh yeah, and I have no other place to mention this - my zines, at least the ones I throw at people, don't have profanity or anything more than PG jokes. As much as I talk big about super comfortable social change through art and stuff, that's not really my thing irl. Still, there's something romantic about Sho o Suteyo, Machi e Deyou (this title of this film sounds way cooler in Japanese) and its use of extreme content to address important social issues.
But damn, if you are not prepared to see a very extreme films about some very depressing topics, do not watch this. Japan is the country of eroguro. Weird art is its thing. Go watch Inu-Oh instead, if you have a weak stomach. Or maybe Surviving Edged Weapons? That's a fun movie.
Also, there's a photobook of the same title from a couple years before the film. It's kinda zine-ish.
